VFXLive is a Community Interest Company (CIC) supporting the Armed Forces community by training and employing former military personnel in video production and live streaming.
Veterans and service leavers are central to VFXLive. Through our training and mentoring programme, participants gain practical experience on live productions before joining our crews filming and live streaming military-focused events including ceremonial parades, concerts, charity fundraisers, sporting competitions, trade shows and conferences.
Founded by Graham Essenhigh and Johnny Coburn, VFXLive was inspired by their work live streaming the annual Armistice Day ceremony at the Cenotaph for The Western Front Association. Feedback from former RAF serviceman Brian Mackenzie highlighted the value of veterans working together in a professional and supportive environment, helping to shape the organisation.
Through training programmes that provide hands-on experience and pathways into paid roles, veterans and service leavers develop their existing strengths into valuable broadcasting skills. Meet The Team
Technical Director
Graham Essenhigh
Graham began his career as a camera operator with ITV and ITN covering global news stories before specialising in live broadcasts. In 2000 he founded Bubble Production, named after his early underwater filming work. Bubble is now an established provider of outside broadcast services for major events including the Hay Literary Festival and Three Choirs Festival in Hereford Cathedral.
Media Relations
Johnny Coburn
Johnny began his career in 1994 as an NCTJ qualified journalist reporting for tabloids and broadsheets before becoming an Old Bailey court reporter. He then joined ITV’s London Tonight, where he served as news editor from 2000 to 2005. Following a period in public relations, he founded Coburn Communications in 2011, leading PR campaigns and producing corporate video content. He also oversees the annual live broadcast of the Armistice Day ceremony in Whitehall.
